Finca Sophenia was founded in 1997 by Roberto Luka. With his business partner Gustavo Benvenuto, Luka created a vision for Finca Sophenia focused on producing great wines in a genuinely unique “terroir” in the foothills of the Andes. Chief winemaker Rogelio Rabino, and consultants Matías Michelini and Michel Rolland form the winemaking team. Finca Sophenia's wines are known for their elegant and modern style, and their true reflection of the unique terroir of the vineyards.
Finca Sophenia's vineyards, located at 4,000 feet in Tupungato in the Valle de Uco region of Mendoza, span over 130 hectares. The vineyards were implanted with selected French clones of the following varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. An area of the vineyard is also reserved for Malbec plants that were raised in Mendoza.
