Two well-known French winemakers, Jacques and Francois Lurton, came to Mendoza in 1992 to use their knowledge to craft stellar Argentine wines. With a history of winemaking beginning in the 1600s, this is the family's fourth winery, but the first in Argentina, located in the Uco Valley.
The large colonial villa style winery produces many varietals including the less common (in Argentina) Pinot Gris. Perhaps their most interesting experimentation is with different Malbec clones from Argentina and France.
Wine to try: Piedra Negra is a great example of refined Malbec, which is named after the black stone soils of the Andean foothills.
